Werner stays with Tottenham for one more season from Majortotosite Top's blog

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to keep Heung-min Son for one more season.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who is familiar with the transfer market, “Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to extend the loan of Timo Werner. If the deal is successful, Werner will be on loan at Tottenham from July until June next year. The terms of the deal will be the same as when he signed on loan in January.”

Werner has struggled for playing time at his home club Leipzig this season. Naturally, he looked for a new club in the winter transfer window and joined Spurs on loan after being tapped as a temporary replacement for Son Heung-min, who was away at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.

Since then, Werner has played a total of 14 games for Tottenham, scoring two goals and providing three assists. It wasn't a bad performance, and he was happy with his time at Spurs. However, it was questionable whether Tottenham would buy Werner outright. While he certainly performed well on loan, he wasn't quite good enough to be a permanent signing. Furthermore, he was ruled out for the season with an injury at the end of the season, which didn't help the team.

Then came the news of the Tottenham loan deal. Leipzig still see Werner as an extra option, and naturally, it's likely that 토토사이트 he'll play one more season at Spurs.

Werner joined Chelsea from Leipzig in 2020. He quickly established himself as one of the best strikers in the German Bundesliga with his pace and consistent goalscoring ability. As a result, Chelsea were keen to sign Werner and eventually paid a £47.5 million transfer fee to acquire him.

However, Werner didn't quite live up to his Leipzig days. In 89 appearances in all competitions in a Chelsea shirt, Werner scored 23 goals and provided 21 assists. Considering what was expected of him, it was certainly a disappointing performance.

Unable to establish himself at Chelsea, Werner eventually opted to return to Leipzig last summer. In his first season back, he scored 16 goals in 40 appearances, signaling a resurgence. However, this season saw the emergence of strong competition in the form of Roy Offenda, and Werner was pushed out of the first-team before joining Tottenham on loan in January.
