"Can BOTOX Make Me Look Younger?"
We receive questions from potential patients who visit our Lenexa location for aesthetic treatments. We asked Dr. Margolin his advice for patients who have unrealistic expectations about aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin told us that he is an M.D. and not a magician. It's normal for people to want their best. Everybody wants to feel and look their best. BOTOX is a temporary treatment for wrinkles and lines. However, these treatments won't give them the look they had in college or their favorite supermodel.
What can Aesthetic Injectable Treatments do?
Dr. Margolin compares the process of aging skin to folding a piece paper. If you took a piece paper and folded it repeatedly over the years, you would get permanent creases. This is what happens when we touch our skin. BOTOX or JUVEDERM are injectable treatments that temporarily reduce wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles, filling in specific areas, and temporary reducing the appearance of signs of aging.
What is BOTOX?
This treatment reduces wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles. However, it's not as dramatic or as drastic as plastic surgeons. BOTOX can correct forehead lines and eyebrow wrinkles. BOTOX can soften lines and prevent them from creasing your face. BOTOX can't treat wrinkles and lines caused due to loss of facial fullness. JUVEDERM is a dermal filler that can address those problems.
What is JUVEDERM exactly?
Although it may not appear so, our faces lose fat as we age, particularly around the cheeks. Our faces lose fat and our skin sags. The loss of facial volume can also cause laugh lines and other wrinkles.
The injectable fillers also known as dermal fillers can be used to increase facial volume. JUVEDERM is a type of filler made from a hyaluronic. It adds volume to the cheeks and restores a youthful look. JUVEDERM fillers can also be used to plump lips that lose their fullness with age. JUVEDERM dermalfiller is also used for dark circles below the eyes. For some patients, it can have a dramatic impact on their overall appearance.

What to Expect from BOTOX Treatments and Juvederm Therapy
The BOTOX and Juvederm procedures are quick and easy to perform. Due to the amount of treatments required, larger areas may need more.
How long each treatment can last
While both treatments are effective, Juvederm is faster and lasts for longer. BOTOX can be used for just a few days. The effects will fade in a few months. You will need to continue your results with additional treatments. Juvederm Filler Injections can be seen as soon as possible, according to the manufacturer.
BOTOX injections such as Juvederm take just a few minutes and are very painless. The larger the area that you require, the more injectables you will need. It may take longer to complete multiple injections. To see results from BOTOX treatments, it can take up 24 to 48 hour.
The results of treatments
Here are the key differences in outcomes for each therapy. Juvederm injections are often visible immediately. Although one to two years is the expected time frame for Juvederm injections, individual results may vary. You may experience different long-term effects depending on the formulation. The BOTOX treatment is fast, but it should be done every four months.
