Botting is because they believe that pking is the only way to have fun in Runescape. They also believe that boring training at pk levels is boring. Then they realize that botting is ok since it doesn't impact other players. It allows them to stay away from boring environments and to build excellent accounts for Pking.

My opinion is that the majority of users who connect to private servers don't do so due to bans or rwting. They simply want to have a great time playing, but not grind enough for an account that is good.

After training my third client for pking in 2010, I thought about botting. Anyone who has ever trained an account for poking understands that it can be a tedious process. Retrospectively, I am lucky that I didn't take botting accounts in the past.
