Scheduling the Utilities at the New Apartment from Drake Sammuels's blog

There are a million things to keep track of when it comes to moving into a new apartment. You have to consider how to pack it all up, where you are going to put all of your items, whether you would like a roommate, what you can afford on your budget, and so much more. Figuring all of this out can be a challenge ad you have to make sure that it all gets done on the right timeline so you can get into your new home. Having a moving checklist can make a big difference and will take some of the stress out of it all, but one thing that you do not want to forget aboutwhen moving is setting up the new utilitiesin the apartment you are moving to.

This may not seem like a big deal, but you probably won’t be too happy if you move into a new apartment and you don’t have electricity or hot water. You will want to make sure that you call all of the utility companies as soon as you have some moving dates so that you can get it all turned on and ready to go. Some of the options like Internet and cable don’t have to be done that first day, but you will probably want electricity and water togo, so don’t forget to work on all of these.

Once you have the moving dates finalized, you can take the time to contact your utility providers to schedule some service at the new home. You don’t wantto arrive, feeling tired from the big move, just to find out that all of the basic utilities are turned off and you have to wait until the next day to get them turned on. Scheduling this ahead of time and stopping the service at your previous home for when you move out can help it all go as smoothly as possible.

Sometimes it makes sense to move in with a roommate to help you afford a bigger and better apartment. But other times, it is ice to have a space that is all your own that you do not need to share.
