"Can BOTOX Make Me Look Younger?"
Patients who want to look younger often visit our Lenexa clinic to ask questions. We asked Dr. Margolin to share his thoughts with patients who might have unrealistic expectations of aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin told us that he is an M.D. and not a magician. It's normal for people to want their best. Everyone wants to look and feel their best. BOTOX may temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles, but these treatments cannot make people look as good or famous as they did in college.
What are the Aesthetic Injectables Treatments?
Dr. Margolin describes how skin ages like a piece or paper. Permanent creases can be created by folding a piece a paper repeatedly over many decades. This is what happens with our skin. BOTOX, JUVEDERM, and other injectable treatments can temporarily reduce the signs and symptoms of aging. They relax facial muscles and fill in certain areas.
What is BOTOX and How Does It Work?
Although this treatment can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, it is not as dramatic than plastic surgery. BOTOX is a treatment that can be used to reduce the appearance of forehead lines or eyebrow creases. BOTOX can soften lines and prevent them from creasing your face. BOTOX can't treat wrinkles and lines caused due to loss of facial fullness. JUVEDERM and dermal fillers are used to remedy these problems.
What is JUVEDERM, exactly?
Although it may not appear so, our faces lose fat as we age, particularly around the cheeks. Our faces lose weight, our skin sags and we develop wrinkles called laugh lines.
To restore facial volume, injectable fillers are also known by their other name: dermal fillers. JUVEDERM, which is made from a form of hyaluronic, adds volume and youthfulness to the cheeks. JUVEDERM can also be used for plumping up lips. As we age, our lips become less full. JUVEDERM dermalfiller is also used to get rid of dark circles around the eyes. It can make a big difference in the appearance of certain patients.
Advice from Dr. Margolin

What You Can Expect from BOTOX & Juvederm Treatments
Both Juvederm or BOTOX treatments take just a few minutes and are extremely efficient. Due to the amount of treatments required, larger areas may need more.
How long each treatment can last
Both treatments are effective, but Juvederm has a faster recovery time and is considered more long-lasting. BOTOX only works for a few days. However, the effects last for several months. Additional treatments are necessary to maintain your results. The manufacturer may give you an indication that results from Juvederm injections might be visible immediately.
BOTOX injections such as Juvederm take just a few minutes and are very painless. The greater the area of skin that needs to be treated, you'll need more injections. Multiple injections can take a little longer to complete. Results from BOTOX treatments for wrinkles can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours.
Treatments Show Results
Here are some key distinctions between the outcomes of each therapy. Juvederm injections might have immediate effects. Although one to two years is the expected time frame for Juvederm injections, individual results may vary. You may experience different long-term effects depending on the formulation.
