For all intents and purposes, it's the end of an era in Miami. The are making moves to improve Jon Lester Jersey upon what turned out to be an impre sive finish to Brian Flores' first year as head coach in South Florida, and while it won't be easy to fill some of the many voids that exist, they're setting themselves up cap-wise to do a lot of damage in free agency. To that Mike Montgomery Jersey end, they've released safety ahead of free agency, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, freeing up nearly $6 million in cap space with the move.Their projected cap space now sits at around $90 million, with legal tampering set to begin on March 16." for everything he has done for the Miami Dolphins," said general manager Chris Grier in an official statement. "I have known Reshad since spending time with him at Georgia and have been impre sed with everything he's been able to accomplish. We wish him the best moving forward."Jones, 32, is a former fifth Chicago Cubs Jersey -round pick of the Dolphins (2010) who has spent his entire 10-year career in Miami. Not so long ago, he was one of the better safeties in the entire NFL, landing Pro Bowl nods in both 2015 and 2017, and Ben Zobrist Jersey reeling in three interceptions as recently as 2018. The veteran has battled injury as of late, however, playing in just four games in 2019 before landing on injured reserve. If healthy, Jones remains a viable option for a team in need of a productive safety, and especially one who can be a solid stopgap measure to allow other pre sing needs to be addre sed in the 2020 . seem likely to have interest, along with others, and Jones isn't set to command a premium price -- given his age and aforementioned Kris Bryant Jersey recent bout with injuries. Teams could do worse than to bring in a safety who has 21 interceptions, four defensive touchdowns and 776 combined tackles on his resume. Jones may be out of a job for now, but probably won't be for very long.

Both losing teams came off a win last week against good teams.I am really looking forward to this Monday night game between the and . While the Packers should beat the Lions, they also should've defeated, or at least come close to beating, the Saints last week and instead they were blown out. Who knows what kind of game we will witne s tonight? There have been questions about Aaron Rodgers' commitment to the team, his motivation and his ability as he ages, and I think he needs a win to quiet those critics. A lo s to the Lions and starting the season 0-2 would create some chatter about his future in Green Bay. 2. It's time to accept that the Raiders are for real There's a lot going on through two weeks in the NFL and it can be difficult to know what to make of it all and whether these two weeks are telling of the future for teams or if their paths will change directions. NFL executive vice president of communications Jeff Miller said Wednesday that the Buccaneers' scheduled game against the Kansas City Chiefs on is still on track to be held in Tampa, but contingencies are being made.Miller said that the NFL is in contact with local authorities on the matter, and that if Hurricane Ian should force the game's location to be changed, the contest would take place in Minnesota at the Vikings' U. Luis Tiant Jersey S. Bank Stadium. The Vikings play the Saints this Sunday.NFL Network's Judy Battista reported that the question of whether the game is played in Tampa or not is not just based on whether the hurricane hits Babe Ruth Jersey the area, as the league said they will also consider whether playing the game would sap important resources that are needed for disaster relief and recovery. The NFL will consult with the teams, local officials and disaster relief agencies when making a final decision.Hurricane Ian grew to a catastrophic Category 4 hurricane overnight with top winds of 155 mph, per the National Hurricane Center, and the storm's strongest winds began to reach Florida's southwest coast on Wednesday. The Buccaneers are practicing in Miami due to the threat of the storm, with the team able to use the Dolphins' facilities because Miami is already on the road to Cincinnati for a . The entire Buccaneers team and staff made the relocation with their families, something head coach Todd Bowles said on Wednesday was the first priority for the organization."Miami came Chris Sale Jersey up and it looked like it wasn't going to hit us hard here , and it was an easier trip," Bowles said. "So people who have pets and Joe Kelly Jersey everything else, and older grandparents and parents that were with them could drive down. They wanted to be closer to their families, so that played into it a lot."We're going to try to go about busine s as usual, and it's a little different, but everybody's families are safe, so hopefully we can concentrate."Bowles said that despite the extenuating circumstances that are affecting this week's practices and the leadup to the game, his team is trying to stay as focused as po sible. Echoing what quarterback Mookie Betts Jersey said , Bowles said he knows that wherever the game ends up being held, the Bucs will still be expected to play at their usual level."Hopefully it is Tampa, and everything is fine, and that means we're not damaged too much," Bowles said. "But if we have to play elsewhere, we just have to focus and lock in. No one's going to feel sorry for us, so we've got to be ready to play."
The good vibes permeating throughout Mitch Moreland Jersey the after beating down their division rival in Week 6 are disappearing a bit due to more injury news they could've certainly done without. This time it involves starting safety , who joined the team in preparing for its coming battle with the this weekend but will instead be sidelined until 2022. Blackmon suffered a torn Achilles in practice this week, , ending his 2021 season and creating yet another personnel problem in Indy. They'll have to figure out Joe Kelly Jersey how to fill his role going forward with only three safeties available in , and . They could potentially look to promote from the practice squad and also have some added cap space after recently restructuring the deal Jim Rice Jersey on wide receiver -- po sibly making a free agency signing an option.Blackmon is a former third-round pick of the Colts (2020) who entered the second year of his profe sional career as a key part of what they look to do defensively. He started the first six games this season and Carl Yastrzemski Jersey delivered 34 tackles with a forced fumble through that stretch after starting in 14 games as a rookie a year ago. And as he readies Blake Swihart Jersey for months of rehab to hopefully return to form next year, the Colts must make decisions to try and avoid having a hole on the back end of their defense.
It turns out wasn't Eric Hosmer Jersey the only player punished for using his helmet as a weapon this season.Le s than two months after the pa s rusher for swinging his helmet at the head of quarterback , the league has i sued a one-game suspension to cornerback for attempting a le ser but similar offense while playing the in Week 17. , Lawson will be forced to sit out the first game of 2020, Tyson Ross Jersey without pay, for what NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan Allen Craig Jersey has called an effort to " " his helmet at an opponent. The veteran defensive back was ejected from the Raiders' Week 17 lo s for fighting with an opposing player. The 28-year-old Lawson is scheduled to hit free San Diego Padres agency this offseason, so his suspension could take effect with another team. Originally a fourth-round draft pick of the in 2014, he spent the first five years of his career in Motor City before signing with the Raiders in March 2019. Despite starting five games for the team, he also mi sed the opening four weeks of his first year in silver and black as the result of a suspension Tony Gwynn Jersey for a failed drug test.
Who's PlayingHouston @ JacksonvilleCurrent Records: Houston 1-6; Jacksonville 1-6What to KnowThe Jacksonville Jaguars are 2-7 against the Houston Texans since November of 2016, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Sunday. Jacksonville's bye week comes to an end as they meet up with Houston at 1 p.m. ET at TIAA Bank Field. The Jaguars are limping into the game on a six-game losing streak. Jacksonville came up short against the Los Angeles Chargers two weeks ago, falling 39-29. A silver lining for Brad Hand Jersey Jacksonville was the play of RB , who rushed for one TD and 119 yards on 22 carries in addition to snatching one receiving TD. Meanwhile, Houston lost to the Green Bay Packers at home by a decisive 35-20 margin. The Texans were down 28-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. The losing side was boosted by QB , who pa sed for two TDs and 309 yards on 39 attempts in addition to picking up 38 yards Johnny Manziel Jersey on the ground. Watson ended up with a pa ser rating of 157.80. The Jaguars are expected to lose this next one by 6.5. Now might not be the best time to take Jacksonville against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past five consecutive games. The lo ses bumped both teams down to an identical 1-6. Two offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Jacksonville is third worst in the in rushing yards per game, with only 96.6 on average. Houstons have had an even harder San Diego Padres time: they are stumbling into the contest with the fewest rushing yards per game in the league, having accrued only 84.9 on average. Nothing steers NFL teams quite like quarterbacks. It's po sible, not probable, to win in spite of them. It's preferable, not easy, to land the best of them. They are, more than anyone else, the ones who shape the football landscape, week in and week out. That's why we're ranking all 32 starting signal-callers throughout the 2022 season: to take stock of the most important players in the game, sorting everyone from the bona fide superstars to the QBs who might be worth replacing. While these rankings don't nece sarily reflect which QBs we'd rather have for the remainder of the year (or their career) -- for example, we still trust over, say, -- they are designed to showcase which ones are performing and positioned best at this moment. Now, without further ado, our Week 12 pecking order:Week 11 QB Power Rankings1 Kansas City Chiefs QB At this point, no one looks Steve Carlton Jersey like a safer bet to reach the Super Bowl than the . As usual, that's primarily due to Mahomes, who's averaging almost three TDs per game to easily pace the league. Better yet, no one is more unfazed, regardle s of the score or circumstance.2 Philadelphia Eagles QB Miscues around him, from teammates and the play-caller, have rendered the vulnerable as of late. Hurts himself has weathered it all; he still takes care of the ball, and he is thoroughly unmoved by the moment, always proving clutch on the ground.3 Cincinnati Bengals QB Without , all Burrow's done is reposition Cincinnati to make noise in the AFC. What he lacks in Josh Allen-esque versatility, he makes up for with reliability, pa sing all the in-pocket tests with flying colors. Only Mahomes has scored more TDs. (+1)4 Buffalo Bills QB Only Mahomes is as consistently dangerous, but some of his boom-or-bust tendencies have flared up while he battles elbow pain. After opening the year looking even more improved as a decision-maker, he's reverted back to gunslinger -- explosive but vulnerable. (-1)5 Baltimore Ravens QB Not a whole lot about his game, or the offense, is very pretty thanks to another year of injuries out wide and up front. Still, he's on pace for over 1,100 rushing yards, never permitting Baltimore to be written off.6 Miami Dolphins QB Everyone wants to see how he fares down the stretch, with a playoff trip on the line, but until then, he's proven he can be a clutch distributor to and , performing like an uber-efficient version of for Mike McDaniel.7 Seattle Seahawks QB In 10 games, he's been the most accurate among all active starting QBs. But he's not just playing it safe, as we all a sumed Philadelphia Phillies Jersey he might, also ranking No. 8 among regular starters in yards per attempt. The stretch run will be fascinating for his 2023 prospects.8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Bruce Arians said recently the Bucs have their swagger back. Brady appears to be included. He's not been terribly efficient overall, but he's done more than enough in crunch time to get Tampa Bay back in the mix. An underrated figure: only four turnovers in 10 games. (+1)9 Robin Roberts Jersey Dallas Cowboys QB Dak is back. Four games into his return from injury, Prescott finally looks fully comfortable. He's completed over 75 percent of his throws three times since mid-October, and the have the personnel to let him keep playing point guard rather than superhero. (+6)10 Green Bay Packers QB Rodgers' top-10 placement is more indicative of the position's general mediocrity than anything he's done for the slumping . We have little doubt Pro Bowl A-Rod remains within, but Green Bay's shoddy setup has taken its toll on his consistency. (-2)11 San Francisco 49ers QB Keep it up, and he'll go into 2023 battling yet again, if not opening the year as the outright starter. Jimmy G has his ceiling when carrying an offense, but he's shown a surprising amount of pocket mobility while feeding all of Kyle Shanahan's playmakers. (+2)12 Minnesota Vikings QB The ' embarra sing lo s to Dallas wasn't all on him by any means; when the line folds, he can only do so much. But Minnesota's close wins this year have kind of masked an uncharacteristically streaky year from the typically efficient vet. (-2)13 Los Angeles Chargers QB There's really no reason a QB of his caliber should be trailing the likes of , and in yards per attempt. His cannon is on par with Mahomes and Allen, but he's yet to settle in when it counts. L.A. has to correct this. (-1)14 Tenne see Titans QB ' brief entry as an injury replacement may have sparked something in him, because he's come on lately while involving and . still runs the show, but Tannehill's quietly posted the No. 7 pa ser rating among active starters. (+3)15 New York Giants QB Jones' run as a reformed caretaker of the ball came to a sour end in New York's lo s to Detroit. And now his barren receiving corps is even more battered. Brian Daboll's only hope for a second-half push may be to lean even more on the QB's legs. (-1)16 Las Vegas Raiders QB If anything, the connection is working: 10 of his 15 TDs are to the ex-Packers star. In truth, Carr's shown more life as Josh McDaniels' seat has gotten warmer. (+3)17 Jacksonville Jaguars David Robertson Jersey QB He's turned a bit of a corner in November, avoiding picks and completing over 70 percent of his throws in back-to-back competitive starts. We may not learn of his true ceiling for another year or so, but at least he's moving in the right direction. (+3)18 Detroit Lions QB One of the most curious QBs on the list, Goff's best numbers have come when Detroit is losing, signifying an ability to play catch-up. He's succe sfully stayed in the background during the ' recent hot streak. (+5)19 Cleveland Browns QB Funny enough, as prepares to take over, Bri sett has shown some of Darren Daulton Jersey his best stuff in recent weeks. He's cut down on the forced throws and developed some solid red zone chemistry with his pa s catchers. (+5)20 Atlanta Falcons QB The mystery of Mariota is that the have not -- and almost cannot -- rely on him through the air, and yet he brings enough savvy mobility that, like an extremely lite version of or , he can keep chains moving. (+6)21 Indianapolis Colts QB Considering the ' dysfunction this year, he's actually been remarkably resilient, keeping Jr. and busy. That doesn't mean he's more than a mid-tier option behind an unstable line. (-3)22 Washington Commanders QB The wins keep coming in Washington, which justifies Ron Rivera sticking with his energetic leadership. The key to continued succe s is taking what the defense gives rather than getting greedy, especially considering the talent he's got at the skill spots.23 New Orlean
It took leaving the AFC and the New England Patriots to shift the balance of power toward the NFC -- joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and leading them to their first win since 2002. Even more impre sive is seeing him do it in his first year in Tampa, but he's not the greatest of all-time simply because he has great hair. And as the Buccaneers attempt to reload with Brady on a potential multi-year deal, it stands to reason the NFC is still the conference to beat, and that's saying a lot when considering just how dominant the the AFC is Drew Hutchison Jersey under the iron fist of and the Kansas City Chiefs, along with others like the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen, the and , and now and the .There's a way the NFC can make sure it keeps its opposing conference at bay going forward, though, and not simply by hoping Brady plays until 2078. Given how much talent is entering the offseason this year, and with teams having to be more creative in spending due to a $182.5 million salary cap, you can expect some interesting acquisitions and accompanying contracts, with several big names being perfect fits for what's going on in the NFC.If the moves listed below happen, the AFC better pray for rain -- even with Mahomes and the other aforementioned QBs in tow. Note - , QB (Trade) DEN QB #3 Most recent (current) team: Age: 32Market value (annual): $46.4 millionThe longer this situation draws out, the more it feels like what once seemed impo sible becomes anything but. Wilson's agent listed the , , and Bears as the , but the Bears are the only ones truly set to make a pa sionate run at him. It's now been reported that's exactly what Chicago plans to do -- or has already begun doing -- hoping to pry him away from the Seahawks in exchange for what would have to be a blockbuster haul. As with the other NFC teams on this list, the Bears have more than one need to resolve this offseason, but none of those voids are as Larry Andersen Jersey cavernous as the one that exists at quarterback. Until that's fixed, it may not matter what else they patch up, and Wilson is the answer they both desperately want and need. Green Bay Packers - Patrick Peterson, CB MIN CB #7 Most recent team: Age: 30Market value (annual): $10.4 millionHow's this for a free agency splash in Green Bay? The Packers need to seriously consider adding the future Hall of Famer to the mix and whatever they need to do to make cap room for him -- do it. Peterson is still playing at an elite level and might even be amicable to following the (remember him?) career arc beginning potentially as early as 2022, one that would see him move to safety as his career continues. For now, however, he has what the Packers need as both a player and a leader, to say the least. Peterson showed no signs of slowing down in 2020 and would be an instant impact in the secondary, a unit that lacks terrifying cornerbacks and if they want to get another Super Bowl ring before he eventually retires, it's time to break out the whooping stick in free agency to get the one or two pieces needed to get over that hump. - , LB TEN OLB #48 Most recent team: Age: 28Market value (annual): $18.2 millionWant to take the defense to another level in Detroit? Well, give Dupree a call. The Steelers opted to not franchise tag the talented pa s rusher as he works to recover from a torn ACL suffered in 2020, but Dupree a sures teams he'll be ready for training camp in July and the Steelers are still talks in trying to keep him in Pittsburgh. The latter is all well and good, but the fact he's on the open market now means he gets to make his own decision, and the Lions need to sweeten an Will Middlebrooks Jersey offer and get him onboard. When healthy, Dupree is a force and provided he has a dynamic complement, would be a ma sive add to the rebuilding Lions -- a team tasked with stopping , Aaron Rodgers and potentially Ru sell Wilson going forward. Now is not the time to overthink this. Figure out how to clear the cap space to make this happen. - , G NYG OG #76 Most recent team: Age: 29Market value (annual): $8.3 millionKirk Cousins isn't going anywhere, folks. And with that being the case, it'll be paramount to protect him going forward, which is something Scherff would do well. The Vikings have running back locked up and one of the better receiving corps in football, but Minnesota has to cringe when realizing Cousins was sacked 39 times in 2020 -- only eight fewer than the regularly bullied Ru sell Wilson. It made a ton of sense for Washington to do what they can to avoid seeing walk out of the door, hitting him with a franchise tag, but take heart Minnesota, because Feliciano is capable as well. Fresh off of an AFC championship appearance as one of the protectors of , the Vikings could definitely do worse than to make him an offer. Dallas Cowboys - , S TB SS #22 Most recent team: Age: 25Market value (annual): N/A is not only key for the obvious reasons, but also for the le s obvious ones, i.e., their ability or inability to make moves in free agency. A suming they remain in their current cap crunch with a $37.7 million franchise tag chained to their ankle, it'll be about trying to find high potential, value talent at positions of need, and Neal is definitely Mitch Williams Jersey that. Still young by NFL standards, his career has been marred by durability i sues but, when healthy, he's one of the better up-and-coming safeties in the league. The injury bug wasn't a thing for him in 2020, or at least not to a major degree, and his pre-existing relationship with both Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt, Jr. -- who are now both in Dallas -- makes for an straightforward conversation and plug-and-play opportunity beside , who had a breakout season last year in moving between both free and J. T. Realmuto Jersey strong roles. The jury is out on what'll happen in free agency with , but even if he's retained, attempting to convince Neal to take a bit le s to reunite with Quinn . - , EDGE TB OLB #58 Most recent team: Age: 28Market value (annual): $19.7 millionThere's still much to be figured out when it comes to , but what the Giants already know is they can't afford to lose more pa s rush talent, and especially when they need to try and add someone to make their defensive line more robust. Enter Barrett, an absolute monster for the Buccaneers, who is coming off of a franchise tag and a Super Bowl win -- now looking to cash in BIG in free agency and lacking another tag (given to receiver ). And while one of the will be what happens on the offensive side of the ball, it's the defense's ability to prevent Jones from having to shoot it out with teams that will go a long way
The Denver Broncos are nearing a deal with one of the most tenured Tommy Lasorda Jersey coaches in the NFL.Denver is expected to hire longtime defensive coach Dom Capers as a senior defensive a sistant to a sist expected defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday. Capers, 71, worked in the same role with the Lions in 2021.The Broncos have to wait until after Super Bowl LVI to officially hire Evero, who is currently the Rams' secondary coach and pa sing game coordinator.A staple of Matt Beaty Jersey NFL coaching staffs since the late 1980s, Capers brings to Denver a wealth of knowledge acquired over nearly 40 years in the NFL, including stints as Curtis Granderson Jersey the inaugural head coach for both the Panthers and Texans and as a DC for the Steelers, Jaguars, Dolphins and Packers. After guiding the Panthers to a 7-9 finish in 1995, Capers led the club to its first playoff berth and victory the following season with a much-improved 12-4 campaign. He tallied a 30-34 record in four seasons with Carolina. Four years later, Houston pegged Capers as the guy to help lead the expansion team Victor Gonzalez Jersey to greatne s. Those ambitions would fall short as the Texans, led by No. 1 overall pick David Carr under center, compiled a 18-46 record during Capers' four seasons.Following a succe sful nine-year stint as Green Bay's defensive coordinator (2009-17), Capers traded in Andre Ethier Jersey the sidelines for the front office, moving to a behind-the-scenes role as a senior defensive a sistant for Jacksonville, Minnesota and, most recently, Detroit.
Doug Pederson a sumes he'll be back as the head coach in 2021, despite the team's decline in wins and playoff performances in each of the past three years since winning the . The Eagles are 4-10-1 this season Chris Taylor Jersey , finishing last in the NFC East -- a division that could have a six-win champion (the worst in history).Pederson has been partially responsible for the me s that has transpired in Philadelphia over the past three years, as the Eagles are just 22-24-1 since winning the Super Bowl. He is making his case why he should remain as the Eagles head coach, believing he's the right guy to get Philadelphia back to competing for division titles and deep playoff runs."We've won a lot of games around here. Been in the postseason three out of the five years I've been here and a championship and all that. I've seen it, I've done it," Pederson said to reporters Monday. "That's where my confidence lies."I know what that looks like. I know what it takes. Me personally, I've been in three Super Bowls, been on three Super Bowl teams, and I've seen exactly how it can be done. We've Zach McKinstry Jersey got to get that back. We've got some great players, some great young players, and they're getting valuable experience right now playing." Pederson has never been in a position of power when it comes to roster decisions on the Eagles. That belongs to general manager Howie Roseman, the man responsible for taking in the fourth-round of a historic 2017 running back cla s and who selected J.J. Arcega-Whiteside in the second round over D.K. Metcalf and in a talented 2019 wide receiver draft cla s. While it's too early to determine what career will look like, Roseman selecting him one spot above looks at the moment to be a major mistake.Perhaps Pederson feels he can do better if he had more control over personnel decisions. Not working well with Roseman usually results in an exodus - Walker Buehler Jersey - see general manager Jason Licht or ESPN NFL analyst Louis Riddick. head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach could also be included here, since Reid was fired by the Eagles in 2012 after 14 succe sful seasons and took Veach -- a scout for the Eagles -- to Kansas City. Will Pederson get that opportunity? That's what Eagles owner/CEO Jeffrey Lurie will have to decide in the coming weeks.
