There are a few things that the landlord is going to want to check out before they decide to rent you the apartment of your dreams. This is a big investment for the landlord or property manager and they want to make sure that they pick the right tenant to make it their own home. The higher your credit score, the more likely that the landlord will rent the apartment to you and let you live there. But if it is lower, you will need to either work on getting it fixed or try to find a way to explain the lower score to the landlord and hope that they will allow you to still live there.

 

If you need to know your credit score before moving into a new apartment, then you will need to go and pull it up. The number is going to be critical, though it is not always a deal-breaker. If you have a bad credit score because you refused to pay some bills or you ran your credit card like crazy, the landlord may be a little hesitant to rent to you. If your credit is a little lower because of some unexpected medical bills and you were not able to work, then the landlord may be a bit more understanding.
