Like many things in this day and age, the manufacturing of a large amount of products available on the Synthetic lawn market are made overseas. From a business perspective this makes a lot of sense, as it helps keep production costs down. But at what cost?

Over the last 3 years Covid has come and mostly gone, but has left a bitter taste in the mouth of many people. On top of the fact that so many people’s lives have been impacted through either health issues or the loss of a loved one, there has also been a significant effect on many industries. This impact on industry has many a flow on effect as well.

What has transpired is factories which are mostly located in China have been forced to close due to their government’s stance of zero tolerance towards the outbreak. So essentially all industry came to a grinding halt. On top of this, shipping lanes which would also pass through these countries could also not proceed. With borders being tightened up all over the world, many countries were forced to reflect on production of food and commodities from within. Along with this came the realisation that far too many products were manufactured offshore.

On top of this, many people learnt that they needed to work from home on either a permanent or semi-regular basis. With government incentives being thrown into the mix to help fund some extensions and housing upgrades this sent the construction industry into a spin, causing shortages of common items, and unprecedented crazy increases in the costs of many of these materials.

Luckily, not all company moved the production of all their materials overseas. One such product is the Synlawn artificial grass which was innovated, designed and produced locally. There are a number of key factors which was the main reasons behind why their products continued to be made locally.

Innovative Design

If you’ve ever seen any of the synthetic products available on the market installedin a yard or garden you will notice there is a huge variation in the types of quality. Some look like they are ripped straight from a butcher’s window display, and yet others are so natural in their appearance that you can’t even tell they are synthetic without someone pointing this out. Like the old saying goes, “you get what you pay for”.

The Synlawn product range has actually been designed down to a molecular level to ensure different thread types are combined to give the precise appearance that local naturally occurring grasses would exhibit. This means they will look like Australian lawns in both colour and the shape of the blades of grass.  So quite literally these are made with our market in mind.

Sustainably made

The materials used to create the synthetic grass products are sourced from discarded sugar cane husks, an item of which we have a large locally occurring natural supply. This means we have a large proportion of what is needed to make these products right on our doorstep. On top of that, due to the nearly constant supply of sunlight in our fair country, the manufacturing process can be run using sustainably sourced energy.

Lifespan

As these products are designed and manufactured locally, they are also tested to cope with the environment in which they will be applied. This means the rain, hail, flood and copious amounts of scorching sunlight that might be served all within a single day won’t easily impact the life of the product, which is why most of these products have a 10-15 year life span. That being said some of the earlier manufactured products are still going strong to this day, being applied more than 20 years ago. So, it’s fair to say you will get your moneys worth out of these Synlawn products.
