The Quietum Plus has an adjustable volume control knob that allows you to adjust the sound level so that it's just right for you. There are also two modes: Auto and Manual. The auto mode will adjust based on the levels of noise being produced by your surroundings (e.g., people talking or dogs barking). You can also set manual levels if you prefer that sort of thing (i.e., no adjustment).
