Not necessarily, but we do have more training, which does equate to better driving. Truck drivers are required to do some form of training every quarter (3 months) during the year. Most of the training I do is online. They are basically little classes that teach fundamentals on safe driving, working around the truck, and how to use things like our electronic log books.
Truckers usually average around 120,000 miles a year in driving. If the truck driver is following the driving rules, they should be developing some pretty good driving skills. So I would say it’s feasible that truck drivers are better drivers because we have more experience driving than most people have.
