I have noted the usefulness of written communication in so many ways in my day to day interactions. It enables specific, coherent, and deliberate messages which are very effective in minimizing the occurrence of confusion. Also, it is very helpful to have a record of instructions since they can be needed in the future. However, it does have drawbacks; the tone and specific intent behind the message can sometimes be misunderstood since one is deprived of observing one’s partner’s body language and facial expressions. Besides, it might be impractical to spend so much time writing and responding to long messages. In conclusion, although there may be some restrictions to written communication, the pros and cons of written communication are sometimes incomparable, especially in the corporate world.
